We’re Heading to Tanzania

BB is more than just a business — it’s a container for creativity, connection, and change.
I want to keep pushing the creative envelope — not just in what I make, but in why I make it.  After five years of building this brand and this beautiful community, I see it as my responsibility — and my privilege — to use it as a platform to serve others, amplify untold stories, and leave the world a little better than we found it.

This August, Billy Bear is leaving the studio and heading to East Africa — but this is more than just a trip. It’s the start of something deeply human, creative, and hopeful — a collaboration grounded in purpose.

In partnership with Prospr — a creative charity agency that exists to amplify the impact of not-for-profits and changemakers — I’ll be working alongside my partner Cougar and local Tanzanian tailor Babu to co-create our very first international collection.

This project isn’t about fashion or style, its centred around impact. It’s about designing with purpose, honouring the story behind the stitch, and creating meaningful global work that serves something greater than us as individuals.  

This collection isn’t about the product alone — it’s about what the product stands for. With every piece, you’re not just supporting me or Billy Bear. You’re joining a movement that says: we see people, we value stories, and we believe in a better world.

Why We’re Doing This

Last year, with the support of this incredible community, we raised funds to help Babu access running water for his family home and purchase an electric sewing machine for his business.

This year, we’re taking the next step.

Together with Cougar — who will be working closely with me on the design and marketing of this project — we’ll spend four weeks on the ground in Tanzania to dream, design, and create a collection that:

• Shares Babu’s story with global audiences

• Showcases his craftsmanship and creativity

• Contributes to his long-term financial security

• Builds a bridge between business, creativity, and global change

This collection is about using business to serve others. We want every piece to feel like part of a bigger picture — a movement that invites you to show up, not just as a buyer, but as a co-creator.
